Screen Recorder FAQ

Does the screen recorder upload my recording?

No. Screen and audio capture, preview, and export happen locally in your browser. The recording is not uploaded to OptMyTool.

Can I record system audio and my microphone?

Enable System / tab audio before recording. To capture the other participants in a browser-based meeting, choose the meeting tab in the browser sharing dialog and enable its Share tab audio option. For a meeting app or other desktop sound, choose a screen or window and enable system audio if your browser and operating system offer it. You can also include your microphone; available audio choices depend on your browser and device.

Which recording format is supported?

The recorder automatically selects a supported browser format, typically WebM or MP4, and shows the selected format before recording.

Can I pause and resume a screen recording?

Yes. Pause and resume the current capture, or stop it to preview and download the recording.

Why does screen sharing need permission?

Browsers require you to choose and approve the screen, window, or tab in a native sharing dialog. OptMyTool cannot silently capture your screen.
